From the Fl!p Your Thinking Vitality Deck:
I am not FLAWED – I LOVE MYSELF AS I AM
One of the most common metaphors for change is the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. Quietly and still, the caterpillar goes through its changes inside its chrysalis, and if left undisturbed, will emerge as a butterfly. Well I don’t relate to that version of change. I don’t get to lock myself away and emerge ten days later with beautiful wings.
I relate more to the frog. The little tadpole must go through its changes out in the open, while trying to survive. It first sprouts back legs, then front legs. Its body changes, it develops lungs and loses gills and on top of it all it changes its digestive system to switch from an herbivore to a carnivore. Toward the end its tail is dissolved and assimilated into its new shape.
The stage where it has legs but is not yet a fully formed frog is called “froglet”. And like a froglet, I must move through my life with the new parts, dragging some of the old parts and always evolving to the new shape I was destined to become.
Just as the butterfly does not long to be a caterpillar, the froglet isn’t hanging onto his tadpole days. He allows nature to take its course and lives his life everyday in the state he finds himself.
Change is natural and never ceases. Resistance to change causes suffering. This year my intention is to accept my life as it is. To meet what comes with grace, to look for the good in it, and to continue to return to my true nature. You can hang on and resist all you want, but it won't stop the world from turning. So you might as well enjoy the journey - you little froglet.
Be true,
Rebecca
